Animals have a habit of protecting the ones that they care about. There are thousands of stories from all over the planet where the animals put their own lives in danger in order to rescue their owners from disasters. Here are some of the most memorable moments where the pets saved their owners from peril.
Buddy The Firefighter
This three year old German Shepherd saved his owner from a fire and managed to call for help. Buddy’s owner Ben Heinrichs was working on a truck in his workshop when there was a spark that ignited some gasoline, causing an inferno. Buddy ran to get help and a state trooper was able to respond to the 911 call.
The Selfless Molly
Molly woke up in the middle of the night to find out that the house was on fire. She sprung into action and did not waste any time in saving her owners and other pets. She repeatedly tapped on the feet of her owner and because of her actions, seven humans and three pets were safely evacuated from the fire.
Tara Saved A Kid
Tara is a small domestic cat but it did not get in the way of saving her little human owner. Young Jeremy Triantafilo was being attacked by a dog while he was riding a bicycle in the driveway of his home. Tara was quite courageous when she pounced on the large dog.
Khan The Protector
The Svilicic family adopted Khan just a few days but he started to act strangely towards the daughter in the family, Charlotte. When the two were playing together, Khan grabbed her by the diaper and tossed her away. Charlotte’s mother came running and was shocked to see that Khan had just saved her child from a large King Brown snake.
Mr. Boo The Detective
Mr Boo is quite a normal cat and never made a fuss about anything. However, on one Tuesday morning, he started acting wild, meowing and whimpering all the time. His family failed to understand that the cat had detected a poisonous carbon-monoxide leak.
Dory The Rabbit
Rabbits can be quite dim sometimes but Dory was different. She saved her owner from death during a diabetic coma. Her owner, Simon Steggall, is a 42 year old man from Warboys, England. He was watching television with his wife when he started to get unconscious. Dory jumped on Simon’s chest and licked his face and his wife saw her husband and sprung into action.
Mandy, The Clever Goat
Neil Osborne is an Australian farmer who came close to death when he was knocked over by a cow in 2002. The farmer had suffered many injuries and he was exposed to the barren elements of nature. However, lucky for him, his goat, Mandy, kept him warm at night and allowed him to milk her for sustenance and hydration.
Chi Chi The Alert Chihuahua
Rick and Mary Lane owned Chi Chi, the Chihuahua, and the three of them were hanging out on the beach. all of a sudden, Chi Chi jumped from her chair and started to bark. Mary went to investigate and found that there were two elderly ladies who were having trouble in the ocean. The couple rushed to save them and came back to find Chi Chi sound asleep.
Honey The Lifesaver
Michael Bosch adopted Honey, a cocker spaniel, and he was quite lucky because the dog was the savior of his life. The two of them were in a car and Bosch was backing out of his driveway when the car slipped and fell down an 80-feet drop. Bosch was severely injured and pinned under the car but Honey managed to escape the wreckage. She ran to the neighbor’s house and alerted them of the situation.
Willie The Talkative Parrot
Willie received an animal life-saver award from the Red Cross for saving his owner, Megan. The girl was babysitting a toddler and had just left the room. Willie started to shout “Mama Baby” and making a racket to alert Megan that the baby was choking.
Lulu The Special Pig
While you may think that Lulu is just another pot belly pig, it is not true. She was awarded with a gold hero medal by the American SPCA when she saved her human Jo-Anne from a heart attack. She forced her way out of the sty and reached the road to play dead and attract the attention of anyone who would stop.
The Protectors Of The Jungle
When three men tried to abduct and rape a 12 year old girl, they were ambushed by three lions. The lions chased them away and then protected the girl from any further harm. They also stood guard until a policeman arrived, after which they went calmly back to the forest.
Slinky Malinki Was Quite Clever
Slinky proved that he was very brave when he saved his owner’s, Janet’s, life. Janet is a retired nurse who suffers from severe back pain. She had a reaction to morphine and started to slip in and out of consciousness. Slinky realized that Janet needed help and went to the neighbors and tapped on their windows until he got their attention.
Sky Sacrificed Herself
Sky saved her owner from a shark death and was the living embodiment of the unconditional love that animals have for humans. Mr. Franz van Der Poll, Sky’s owner, was spearfishing off the coast of Point Samson, Australia when two giant sharks began to circle the boat. The two of them in the boat knew that they were in trouble and in order to save her owner, Sky jumped into the ocean without thinking about anything and sacrificed her own life to save her master.
Ace The Friendly Pit Bull
People perceive the pit bulls to be aggressive dogs but Ace proved them wrong. He saved the life of his owner, a 13 year old deaf boy who almost fell victim to a fire in his house. The boy had removed his hearing device to take a nap, not realizing that the house was on fire. Ace saved his life and the two of them escaped without any injury.
